Delicious, and takes about 20 min. to make!
(serves 3-4, depending og ages and appetites)
- 400 grams lamb mince
- 1 small red onion, grated
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp Garam Masala (Indian spice mix, can be found in Middle Eastern shops)
- A small bunch fresh coriander/cilantro, chopped
To serve:
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- Hummus (if you can't get ready made, make my easy version: put one can drained chickpeas in the food precessor, add the juice of 1/2 lemon, some salt and a couple tablespoons natural yoghurt or sour cream. Process until quite smooth. Originally you should add some Tahini/sesame paste, but since I don't use Tahini for anything else I usually don't buy one jar when I only need a tablespoonful. But do as you wish.)
- 3-4 pittabreads
For the burgers, simply put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well. The best way to do this is to roll up your sleeves, wash your hands and squeeze and squelch everything together. Make 3 or 4 burgers from this mix, and fry in a frying pan on medium heat until cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side.
I the meantime, prepare the accompaniments, and warm your pittabreads in the toaster.
Then spread a layer of hummus in the bottom of the pitta and stuff with a burger, red onions and tomatoes (and some lettuce, if you like).
